Update from the Colorado GOP Vice Chairman
Hello Colorado Republicans!
As many of our children get ready to go back to school later this month, it's never been a better time for us to step up our educational efforts here in the Centennial State. With the Democrats' lurch to the left on full-throttle display during the presidential debates, we have a unique opportunity to show there is a better, more American path forward, and we can show it to the people of Colorado.
Through regular communication, we at the Colorado Republican Party want to be sure you have the tools on hand to talk to voters and paint a positive vision for our future. People are going to hear a message of fear and resistance from the Democrats. Let them hear a message of freedom, prosperity, and results from our Republican Party.
In this new bi-monthly Vice Chairman's Update, we want to be sure you walk away with at least four things:
Updates directly from the Trump and Gardner campaigns that you can use in your circle of influence. We’ll give you information on a different issue in every email blast.
Stories from all over Colorado so you know your State Party is on the ground, building the team, and seeing what you are dealing with firsthand.
Action Points that you can take with you this week and all the way to 2020.
Events your State Party officials are attending. If you need more information, never hesitate to reach out to me directly at vicechair@cologop.org or to any of our team. We are here for YOU.
Updates from the Trump Team
WOMEN HAVE EXPERIENCED RECORD LOW UNEMPLOYMENT UNDER PRESIDENT TRUMP
In June, the unemployment rate among women was at 3.6%, near a generational low. 54% of the over 6 million new jobs added since President Trump's election have gone to women.
During the President’s first year in office, the number of American women in poverty fell by nearly 600,000.
THE TRUMP ECONOMY CONTINUED TO SILENCE CRITICS AS JOB GAINS CONTINUED AT A “HEALTHY” PACE IN JULY
The U.S. added 164,000 jobs in July, “underlining a solid labor market” that has added more than 6.3 million jobs since President Trump was elected.
USA Today: “U.S. job growth was solid for a second straight month in July.”
Economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin: “Democrats are not talking about the economy, because they have nothing to say.”
PRESIDENT TRUMP’S ECONOMY CONTINUES TO PULL DISENFRANCHISED AMERICANS OFF THE SIDELINES AND INTO THE LABOR MARKET
Labor force participation increased to 63%, as 370,000 people, previously too discouraged to seek employment, reentered the labor market.
The New York Times: “The tight labor market is continuing to pull in workers from the sidelines.”
WAGES GREW AT MORE THAN 3.2% YEAR OVER YEAR IN JULY AND GROWTH HAS NOW TOPPED 3% FOR A FULL YEAR
Wages grew at 3.2% year over year in July, “well above the rate of inflation.”
There were more job openings than unemployed Americans in July, forcing employers to find ways to attract workers including raising pay and benefits.
News on wage growth may be even better than initially thought as the Bureau of Economic Analysis reported that wages and salaries grew by 3.4% in the first six months of 2019 alone, far above the labor department numbers.
Updates from the Gardner Team
Sen. Cory Gardner led the charge to successfully relocate the Bureau of Land Management’s HQ to Grand Junction. This is great news for Colorado because now the decision-makers will be present in the communities their decisions impact. This is how Cory will represent Colorado: our communities and our jobs come first.
Senator Gardner worked with the Trump Administration to secure a waiver so Colorado can institute a reinsurance program and lower the cost of health insurance for Coloradans.
Colorado Stories
As I recently attended the Las Animas and Huerfano County Lincoln Day Dinners, I noticed something inspiring: both of these rural counties are setting records with their high turnouts. And it’s not just regular Republicans who are attending. In Las Animas County, I sat next to an unaffiliated voter who told me she had been a lifelong Democrat. However, President Trump’s message reached her in 2016. In Huerfano County, there were 15 walk-ins who attended the dinner because they’d heard from their friends around town that something was happening at the 4H Barn that they shouldn’t miss. THIS is how we win. We get down on the ground with the people in our neighborhoods and in our communities. We let them know that the Republican vision is a vision that works for ALL people, and we invite them to join us. Kudos to Las Animas Chair Ty Winter and Huerfano Chair Debi Sporleder and their teams for putting in the hard work to get results and bring new people in to the Republican Party. It’s a model we all can follow.
Action Points for the Week
Follow @NoOnPropCC on Twitter to stay up to date with messaging that supports the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. TABOR is under attack on the 2019 ballot with Prop CC, and we need to show our neighbors and friends WHY a “no” vote is the only vote for Colorado.
Attend a voter registration training in your area or join us for a weekly online webinar to be trained on how to register voters in your community and gain the tools necessary to be an effective volunteer with our Colorado GOP field efforts.
Webinars are hosted every Wednesday at 6PM. Times and locations of in person trainings may vary, contact our Deputy State Director Jon George at Jon@cologop.org for more information or to RSVP.
Write a Letter to the Editor to your local community newspaper on why you support the No on CC Campaign. Explain why you believe protecting the Taxpayer Bill of Rights is critical for the future of our state. You can go to www.votenooncc.com or www.TABORYes.com for talking points, videos, and more information.
That’s all for now! Keep up your great work for freedom.
