Statement on the Election Results from the Chair
The will of the voters has spoken: The 2022 Primary process is over, and we have our nominees! The process of selecting nominees for the 2022 General Election has been a long one, starting back in February with Caucus; the hard work begins now! As the new Chairman of the Eagle County Republican party, I want to thank all of those who had the courage to step up and put themselves out there as a candidate; it’s not an easy thing to do and I couldn’t be more proud of those who did.
I am so excited that we can truly begin to show our support for those nominated, but first… Many times, I draw inspiration from music and like the Rolling Stones sang, “we can’t always get what we want, but if we try sometimes, well, you might find, you get what you need”. Our party has had division in the past if we didn’t get what we wanted. My ask is that even if “your candidate” isn’t moving on, we rally behind those Republicans in the General Election. I didn’t get all of those who I thought would be the best candidate when I cast my ballot, but I am ready to get behind those who are our official nominees. As the lyric says, if we try sometimes…we’ll get what we need. And right now, more than ever, what we need is to begin to put Conservative Republicans into office. If we’re divided, we won’t get what we need!
Our work has just begun! Between now and November, it is our job as Conservative Republicans, to help support the nominees in any way we can. We have an uphill battle against the giant machine that is the Democratic party. Forget where their financial support is coming from, forget whatever noise is out there, let's stay focused on the prize. It’s time for each of us to be bold, to step out of our comfort zone and be a part of the movement that is happening in Eagle County! Each of us has a role to play. Yours may be to put up signs, outreach to unaffiliated voters, donate financially, be a voice, or whatever it is you're being called to do, do it, and do it now! There will be numerous ways to get involved; don’t wait to be called upon, step forward and take the initiative, the Republican party needs you, our County needs you, and our State needs you now more than ever!
Today begins the day that we take back Eagle County and our State. As I mentioned, songs provide inspiration for me and to close this call to action, I’m reminded of a song from Blues Travelers –Stand. The song goes like this, “The answers are getting harder (if an answer comes to those who pray), and there ain’t no way to bargain or barter, but if you’ve got the angst or the ardor, we might faint from the fight but we’re going to find it, for every challenge could have paradise behind it…” We have to stand and fight for our values, for our children, and though it will be tough, every challenge, our challenge, could have paradise behind it!
Stand, join the fight, be courageous and step forward to support the Republican party’s nominees. We can’t always get what we want, but the paradise behind the challenge is worth it!
