40 Days for Life is an internationally coordinated 40-day campaign that aims to end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach, and a peaceful all-day vigil in front of abortion businesses.

Delegates and Alternates elected at the Eagle County Assembly on March 24 will travel to the Front Range for these very important meetings.

Now we’ll move to the County Assembly, which also takes place every two years. At this stage of the political process, the major political parties, in this case the Colorado Republican Committee in Greenwood Village, sets the rules.

Last time we discussed what a Caucus is and went through the history of the Caucus system; this time we’ll get down to the details.

What is a Caucus? And for the record, both Republicans and Democrats follow the same process that is mandated and regulated by state law. I will be doing several articles on the series of events that start with the Republican Caucus on March 3 followed by the County Assemble on March 24 and ends with the District Assemblies and State Convention on April 8-9.

Politicians always calculate their moves and words so that they can sway public opinion in their favor. A clear example is when Gov. Jared Polis recently declared “the emergency is over” in response to the spread of the omicron variant and why he said he won’t be instituting another statewide mask mandate.

We protect children riding in vehicles with minimum standards for car seats. Similar regulations for toys, cribs and highchairs are geared toward protecting young, innocent life. As a society, we value and look to insulate from harm those who cannot protect themselves. Our abortion laws and practices seem incongruous with that stance.
