Harmful Middle School Survey Being Pushed in Eagle County
I’m sending you a copy of a survey that is being sent to all school age children in the state of CO who are in the 6-7-8th grades UNLESS your school board has decided to opt-out. That’s not technically correct. The school districts need to specifically opt-in and then they leave it to the parents to opt-out.
In Eagle County, the info was buried in the regular newsletter in between miscellaneous general info. Parents then had to click here and there if they wanted more information but there was nothing to indicate the importance of doing so. The newsletter simply said the kids will be taking the Health Survey - click here for more info. No red lights. No warning signs. Just a simple statement that was designed to cause no worry. I’m sure most parents didn’t go any further. And no response was an automatic opt-in from the parents.
There are 178 school districts in the state and I’m trying to get a list of those who decided to allow this survey to go forward to students. Of course, the Eagle County school board couldn’t wait to sign our kids up as there is not a conservative on the board. We need to change that.
I don’t even have kids and I was furious when I read the Qs they are asking children. Our school board had to proactively vote that the information in this survey was appropriate to distribute to children as young as 10 years of age.
Two of the current candidates for School Board are incumbents and were serving when this vote was taken. They are Kelly Alter and Michelle Stecher. Please make sure they are not elected again.
