Submit Candidates for Eagle County Board by Feb. 9

Hello Everyone,

As you know, the pandemic has been controlling much of our lives for almost a year and because of it, the Colorado State Legislature (Executive Order # D 2020 005, Executive Order # D 2020 288 and House Bill 2021-1001) was required to create Emergency Bylaws for the conduct of our 2021 Organizational Meetings.

These Bylaws were then adopted by the CRC Executive Committee on 1/21/21 and they supersede the Bylaws of the Eagle County Republican Party. A provision in those Bylaws is the ability for us to amend- change- the information as outlined in the original Call so long as it meets the 7-day advance notification requirement (EB#1).

We are currently working on the details for the conduct of our meeting. It will still be virtual and as we understand the electronic voting process better, we will provide follow up emails on those specifics. The meeting is moved to 1:00 pm February 13 to allow more time for the voting process.

The purpose of this email is to provide you only with the requirements that have changed for nominations.

Anyone interested in running for an office on the Eagle County Republican Executive committee must submit their interest in writing to the secretary, Jennifer Woolley, at secretary@eaglegop.com by Feb. 9.  That is 9 days later than was indicated on the original Call and 4 days before the Organizational meeting per the new Bylaws (EB#7).

New to the procedure this year is that nominations from the floor will not be permitted (EB #7). This also a change to the original Call. In order to accommodate this change, you may submit your intent for multiple positions. The following procedure will be used and is outlined below through the use of an example.

Let’s say you submit your name for the ballot for a specific position and when the vote is taken, you lose. Under ECR Bylaws, your name could have been entered for nomination from the floor for a position that had not yet been voted on. As that is no longer allowed, and if that would have been your intention, you may submit your name for multiple positions knowing that if you win the 1st position, the Central Committee will be instructed to not vote for you on any subsequent ballot. But again, your written notice of intent must follow the procedure outlined above.

The order of elections will be: Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd / 3rd /4th vice chairs (one ballot), Treasurer, and finally Secretary.

That’s it for now. This is the 1st step in an involved process. We will update you as we finalize the agenda and the procedures that we will use.  And we apologize in advance for any changes that we need to make as things keep evolving.  Official Call to come.

Regards,

Jennifer Woolley
Secretary - Eagle County Republican Central Committee
Vice Chair - 3rd Congressional District
